Grenada Office of Creative Affairs, a division of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture, announces the launch of the Grenada Animation Accelerator Programme and Call for Projects for Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the world’s leading platform for animation. Designed to identify and elevate Grenada’s most promising animation projects, this initiative provides creators with direct access to the global animation industry.
Grenadian citizens working in animation are invited to submit market-ready projects to apply for the first-ever Grenada Animation Accelerator Programme. Projects may be in development, advanced stages or fully developed, provided they demonstrate strong potential for international market engagement. Up to three (3) projects will be chosen to represent Grenada at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival and MIFA Market in June in Annecy, France.
The Animation Accelerator Programme is facilitated in partnership with AnimaxFYB Studios, West Africa’s leading and award-winning animation studio based in Accra, Ghana. “When I first attended the Annecy International Animation Film Festival as one of the earliest Ghanaian participants, it was simply a doorway into a world we had yet to fully access. Today, as one of the few African directors with multiple official selections at Annecy, that journey has proven what is possible when talent meets the right platform,” shared Francis Y. Brown, founder and creative director of AnimaxFYB Studios. “Annecy is not just a festival; it is where stories are validated, careers are accelerated, and global partnerships are born. This initiative is about extending that same opportunity to Grenada: identifying bold voices, refining their ideas, and positioning them on the world stage. If you have a story that deserves to travel, this is where that journey begins.”
Grenada’s participation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival follows In Motion, the month-long intensive animation masterclass held in November 2025, and aligns with GOCA’s strategy to strengthen the creative ecosystem through sector development, training, and international market access.
“GOCA is committed to supporting Grenada’s emerging animation and digital creative talent and this Animation Accelerator is part of a broader strategy for animation sector development,” explained Mr. Orlando Romain, Advisor with responsibility for the Creative Economy. “Global demand for authentic digital content is high, so we want to ensure that when Grenadian creators enter the international landscape, they are well-equipped to be competitive.”
The deadline for applications for the Grenada Animation Accelerator Programme and Call for Projects for Annecy International Animation Film Festival is Friday, 1st May 2026 at 11:59 PM. Visit creativeaffairs.gov.gd to learn more about the programme and apply.
