GOCA proudly announces the release of the Sing Grenada EP, a collection of songs written and performed by the young artists of the inaugural Sing Grenada Music Summer Camp.
Sing Grenada is GOCA’s flagship national youth music programme designed to discover, mentor and empower the next generation of Grenadian musical talent. Thirty-five (35) young artists, ages 8 – 18, participated in the first music summer camp, spending two weeks exploring songwriting, music production, performance and creative expression with some of Grenada’s top musicians and vocalists as their coaches.
“The EP is such an exciting part of this programme,” shares Jeverson Ramirez, Sing Grenada Camp Coordinator. “The entire process gave the kids firsthand experience in songwriting, music production, and elevating their own voice. That was the hope when we started Sing Grenada: to give young people a real platform where they can learn, showcase what they’ve learned, and take it to the next level. I’m sure it has impacted their lives in ways I can’t fully understand. Just as I am committed to developing myself as an artist, I am equally committed to developing my community, Grenada as a whole. Kudos to the Grenada Office of Creative Affairs for driving this initiative and empowering the next generation of musicians, songwriters, and creatives.”
“GOCA continues to proudly support initiatives and programmes that strengthen our creative industries. Incubator programmes, like Sing Grenada, are an integral part of our strategy for ensuring the sustainable development of Grenada’s creative economy. Our young creatives get to experience the creative economy in action which, in turn, allows them to visualize a career path as a Grenadian creative,” explains Mr. Orlando Romain, Advisor for the Creative Economy. “Congratulations to Sing Grenada campers, their coaches and producers on an excellent job with this new EP.”
The five-song Sing Grenada EP features four songs written and performed by the Sing Grenada young artists: My Friend, Try, Summer Vibin, and Best We Can Be. The fifth song on the EP, Our Time Now featuring Jeverson and Zorina, was the official song of the 53rd CARIFTA Games hosted in Grenada in April at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium. Sing Grenada was invited to perform during the CARIFTA Games closing ceremony and the young artists delivered a high-energy performance of My Friend and Our Time Now.
Sing Grenada EP is now available to stream on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.
